Progress has been great! We are going to go to the Boys and Girl's Club next week to go see the wall and present our idea. Our mural is going to be sort of like a day to night transition. I have drawn out the day part while Brenda has been drawing the night part.
In our mural we are going to use lots of colors. Its been difficult to color in our draft with exact colors since crayola doesn't offer a wide variety of colors. The colors will vary. We have a long list of things that we need from Home Depot or Lowes. I'm sure we're going to be very astonished with all of the color options that we are going to have.
We are very excited to go paint at Bay City. We will be painting during Creativity Week (February 15-18). The date is coming closer and closer!
Hey Becca,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you and Brenda have things going pretty great. Congrats! Are you going to let members of the Boys and Girl's Club help paint? Do you think they'll just get in the way? Do you know how big the wall is? I'm sure the size of the wall will affect how much material you will need.
You've been using crayons, but isn't Brenda working on a potential rendition of the mural with paint in art?
ReplyDeleteIf she is then I have to say I like the design so far, but was it the input of the kids you're trying to please, or is it something you two came up with?
Thanks Michelle! We originally did want the kids to paint with us but the club has told us that they didn't want us painting while the kids were there. We do have permission to teach an art class of our own (and we are really excited!) Our class will be relevant to the mural (I don't want to give away too much).
ReplyDeleteOur wall is 19*9.5 feet. So we have plenty of space to work on! We will visit Bay City this Wednesday where Mr. Deleon is going to help us and give us a rough estimate of how much supplies we are going to have to get.
And yes, I have been using pencils to color in the sketches. It is only to give a rough estimate of how the mural is going to look. The colors will vary once we get the official colors. Brenda is working on a "mini- mural" in art. That has really helped us get a feel of what its going to look with paint rather than pencil and on something other than paper. The input sadly wasn't from the kids. We never got a change to meet them. We really do hope to meet them this Wednesday and get their opinions of our sketches and hope to come up with something they really will enjoy.
Can you scan some of your sketches and share them here?
