Learning with Art

I found this Ted talk very interesting because he is trying to help children by tutoring them one on one, and in front of his center there is a huge mural. For our project we want to also help children but with our art. Our art may not be showing how to do a math problem, but expressing our words through a paintbrush.

  1. I liked the TED talk you chose. The guy really presented his passion for what he was doing even through his nervousness. I think that your posts so far are really getting across the fact that you want to paint something, somewhere. I would suggest for you to narrow down a certain type of building or business you would like your mural to be directed towards. The reason being that if someone were to read your post that had connections or even the person directly saw what places you were specifically looking into, could really help you in the end. If you become a bit more specific with where you want to paint and what you want your mural to be about; you may just get someone to contact you online. Say a bit more than just you want to make children smile. I already know your full of love! Good Luck!

P.S. I don't know if my past comment had difficulty posting, but have you ever taking into consideration in painting at the Houston Zoo?

  2. I really like the idea of possibly painting at the zoo. It's a location where A LOT of people go and especially children!

About narrowing down the location: The preferable place would be indoors. One of the difficulties with an outdoor mural is that the paint won't last as long because of weather. If it is inside it will be there much longer. As location, location, we want to paint a mural maybe in a local children's hospital, or orphanage. The mural itself really has to do with what the children want in it. Brenda has been doing an awesome job with researching colors and how each color gives off a different emotion.

  3. Can you ask Brenda to share more of her research on her blog? Link to one another?

I love this TED Talk -- it's one of my favorites. I especially like how he goes into his project so innocently and shares how much he learns along the way. Plus the pirate humor is great.
